A severed head used in the Irish horror-comedy Grabbers. Ciarán O'Shea (Richard Coyle) is a drunken Garda on a lonely Irish island. When his boss heads off for a holiday, he is left in the care of Garda Lisa Nolan (Ruth Bradley), not realising that she is not the only newcomer on the island – they’ve also been joined by the horrific Grabbers!
This head once belonged to the fisherman Tadhg Murphy (Louis Dempsey) and can be seen when Ciarán and Lisa take a look in the Murphys’ chimney, only to find Tadhg’s severed head inside. Made from a lifecast of the actor, the head features glass eyes, realistic teeth and spine bone and immaculately punched hairs to accurately replicate Tadhg’s horrified look as he was killed. The paint finish accurately replicates skin texture and hues, with blood-like stains around the neck where the head was severed.
