This is an unused/unfinished production casting, complete with hand scanner and a set of low-res graphics. The most notable difference between the Mk VI and Mk VII Science Tricorders was that the Mk VI had a recessed area in top (where the main sensor palette is located) for storing the small hand scanner. The later Mk VII Tricorders did not have that compartment. Made of hollow-cast resin, it is awaiting application of the correct paints and graphics.
