This is the hero screen-matched katana from the 1998 film Blade, used by Deacon Frost. The katana was displayed at Planet Hollywood Hotel in 2009 along with other hero props from the movie.
This particular katana is the hero version that can be screen-matched to the film. In several frames of the movie, the tape on the handle is clearly visible and is not painted. The size and placement of the three bottom holes on the handle also match exactly with the katana used by Deacon Frost on screen.
Another identifying feature is the wavy pattern on the blade. On the screen-used hero katana, this pattern is sharp and pointy.
Another katana sold at Propstore in March 2026, but that one was only production-used and never actually appears on screen. The hole sizes on its handle do not match the one seen in the film. The handle was painted to imitate tape, which makes no sense, and the wavy pattern on that blade is rounded instead of pointy. It also has a strange tube coming out of the handle.
My katana is the only one that perfectly matches what is seen on screen, along with one or two known stunt versions (a rubber version and a silver-grey handled version)
