Description

This prop Polish Paratroopers helmet was used in two very notable British WW2 films, it was originally made for the 1976 film "The Eagle Has Landed" and then was re-used in the 1977 film "A Bridge Too Far", where  the helmet was only slightly altered by adding a different colour netting and coloured cloth scrim to the netting. The helmet was made from an original metal WW2 era British tankers helmet that has been converted to accept the paratroopers chin strap with leather cup to make it an excellent copy of the helmets used by the 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade during WW2. The helmet also features the Polish Crowned Eagle crest on the front in yellow, which can be clearly seen in both films; worn by the paratroopers of Oberst Steiner and when Maj. Gen. Stanislaw F. Sosabowski‘s Polish soldiers land in Normandy and also when they mount the river rescue for the trapped British paratroopers in Arnhem.
