Originally acquired from the Ellis Prop House, this stunt rifle is apparently molded of hard foam and is all black. Sharps 1863 Cavalry Carbines are used by Union soldiers in the film. However, because the rifles in later scenes are more detailed, this prop may have been used in the very beginning of the film when Clint Eastwood’s character Josey Wales is struck over the head and back by a scoundrel’s rifle while he tries to save his family from a brutal assault.
