Although this weapon made a notable reappearance during the Joker's rampage through the streets of Gotham City in The Dark Knight, its breakout role was in this early seventies post-apocalyptic survivalist fantasy, where it took second billing only to Charlton Heston.
Omnipresent in scenes with Heston and in quite a few scenes without him as well, this high-capacity easily controlled SMG was Colonel Robert Neville's primary tool in his crusade against the psychotic, technophobic, and photophobic (but not actually vampiric or zombified) members of The Family, representing the handful of people who weren't killed outright by a global bioweapon pandemic.
