Early costume concepts (between 1955-1957) by Valles, created during early pre-production for MGM’s Ben-Hur (1959). MGM explored numerous costume concepts before Elizabeth Haffenden was brought on to create the designs that later won an Academy Award. Valles’s work illustrates the exploratory phase that helped define the epic’s historical atmosphere.
