Description

A clapperboard and press leaflet from the 1985 adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, The Bride. Eager to create a mate for his monster (Clancy Brown), Baron Frankenstein (Sting) creates the perfect female – Eva (Jennifer Beals). Parted after the monster destroys the laboratory out of rage, Eva and the monster go their separate ways, though how long can they stay apart when they were made for each other? Well used on the set of The Bride, this small clapperboard has the title running along the top, with the name of the director (Franc Roddam) and cinematographer (Stephen H Burum) permanently written in white paint, and space in the boxes to write in chalk the slate and take. Tape running across the bottom indicates the date it was last used, marked as 3/12/84, describing the scene as an exterior night shoot. The clapper stick remains in a loose condition, allowing for a sharp snap when closed. The clapperboard measures 26cm x 1.5cm x 20.5cm (10.25“ x .75“ x 8“).
