Transparent PADDs such as this are first encountered in sixth season episode Life Line, where one is used by the Doctor's creator, holoengineering genius Lewis Zimmerman, at Jupiter Station back in the Alpha Quadrant. The design is seen again in several subsequent Voyager episodes that explore Voyager's contact with Earth through the Pathfinder Project, and also in the movie Star Trek Nemesis.
