Description

"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." -Han Solo An original DL-44 heavy blaster pistol of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from J.J. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, the film that brought the original trilogy's heroes back to the screen. Set approximately 30 years after Return of the Jedi, the film finds Han returned to his old life as a smuggler. Before the events of the story, he and Chewbacca lost the Millennium Falcon to thieves, but they reclaim the ship after it takes off from the planet Jakku piloted by the scavenger Rey and the renegade Stormtrooper Finn. In Star Wars lore, Han's signature sidearm began as the modified heavy blaster pistol of Tobias Beckett, who gave it to the young smuggler and future Rebel Alliance general. Solo carried the DL-44 from before the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, and it was still at his side more than 30 years later at the time of his death on Starkiller Base, making it as much a part of the character as the Falcon itself. The DL-44, with its unmistakable Mauser-inspired silhouette, is among the most famous weapons in all of cinema, and an original example from Harrison Ford's farewell performance as the galaxy's most beloved scoundrel stands as a true centerpiece of Star Wars history.
