This is hand made stretch fabric muscle suit and was used during filming. It has thick foam rubber "muscles" on the shoulders and back (just like an ape) plus on the chest and arms. Put this on and gain in an instant all of the muscles of years at the gym...(without all of the drawbacks of steroids...)
The head sock has a big full gorilla beard attached. This was designed by Colleen Atwood the Academy Award winner in 2003 and 2006 for best costume design.
