Description

This WWII era U.S. Navy Enlisted Utility Uniform was worn by the character “Petty Officer Doris ‘Dorie’ Miller” portrayed by actor Cuba Gooding Jr. in the 2001 Jerry Bruckheimer production “Pearl Harbor”. The outfit consists of a white short sleeve t-shirt, matching white pants, and a white web belt with metallic buckle. The interior of the pants has the character name “Dorie” clearly written in black ink.  The actor wore this costume change during parts of the pivotal sequence when Dorie and his fellow crewmates on the “USS West Virginia” come under attack by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Gooding’s character was based on the true-life story of Doris Miller, who was a Mess Attendant, Third Class aboard the West Virginia when the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred and later received a Navy Cross for his acts of valor during the battle.  The costume wardrobe was hand distressed by costumers for its use in parts of the battle sequence and is in good screen used condition. This item was acquired directly from the costume house that provided it to the production and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity. On sale at www.TheGoldenCloset.com for $750!
