Several years ago the house used in the movie 'A Christmas Story' went up for auction on Ebay and was bought by the same guy that was making the leg lamps. I contacted his business manager to see if he had secured the furniture for the kitchen. He told me that he had not found anything close in appearance to those used in the movie. I was offered the opportunity to recreate the furniture to be placed in the newly renovated house. I only had a few weeks to try and duplicate the table, chairs and Hutch from screen captures and what little info I could find on the Web. I had to scale items from the stills and convert them to full size patterns. I was able to get it all done in about a week and half and then delivered it to the house in Cleveland, Ohio. It was so much fun and a great feeling knowing that my wife and I contributed in a small way to restore ralphys home. It was like stepping back in time when I backed my truck up to the back door where the Bumpus's dogs took off with the old man's Turkey. I expected to see ralphy run out with his bb gun in hand.
The first picture shows the furniture at my house before it's journey to the 'Christmas Story' house. The next picture shows it in
the actual house in Ohio.
