The device clamshells open to reveal a solar-powered calculator and, appropriate for a (fictitious) medical instrument in that uniquely Japanese way, a functional battery-powered adipose tissue (percent body fat) calculator that works by entering age, height, weight, and sex, and then measuring bioelectrical impedance between two fingers held on the metallic contact pads.
