Straight from the Jim Henson Company, this is one of the ensembles for one of the Gelfling guards at the Castle of the Crystal. This costume can be screen-matched to one of the castle guards in Episode 6, when the castle guards come together to speak about the Skeksis. Even though similar, each of the armor decorations were unique in their overall design and composition for each of the castle guards. The individual pieces are marked "Smo Jo" and "Smokey Joe" giving us an insight into specific castle guard's name.
Comprised of a lightweight, wool-blend cloak lined with silk fabric and dip-dyed to create a gradient coloring and featuring leather shoulder pads, cotton arm sleeves with leather arm gauntlets, a leather helmet with a resin bone at the top and fabric neck piece. The tassels that hang from the sleeves are lovingly referred to at the Henson shop as "Froud Shrouds," in reference to the original Dark Crystal designer Brian Froud and fabricator Wendy Froud.
