This is a screen used string of chewbacca hair used in the production of star wars a new hope. Originally I believed that it was a left over from production, but I got the information from the person who made the display that he gathered them directly from stuart freeborn and that they were used and re-punched as the costume lost hair constantly (screenshot attached with picture of stuart freeborn with him and the story). They are made from angora rabbit hair and yack hair (like old costumes).
