Description

Here is my recent acquisition from today’s Propstore auction. As many of you have noticed, Buffy props have been commanding increasingly high prices. I was fortunate enough to acquire a screen-matched, screen-worn set of fangs used by Sarah Michelle Gellar. In my opinion, these are likely the rarest Buffy fangs on the market. Buffy only appears as a vampire in a single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which alone makes these fangs exceptionally rare. I’m aware that a few other fang sets have previously been sold as being used by Sarah, but those attributions were incorrect. The easiest way to distinguish the real screen-used fangs like mine is that they have eight teeth, not six. More importantly, they can be screen-matched. The other sets do not match anything seen on screen. Through research, I determined that those were most likely used by a background vampire in the pilot episode. The confusion appears to have come from the box label, which read “Vampire Buffy,” but in that context it referred to a generic vampire, not Sarah’s character. I was able to achieve a perfect screen match by analyzing the angle of the teeth and the way they are cut at the bottom. There is a specific frame where Buffy opens her mouth wide, clearly showing that the right front tooth is longer than the left. This exact detail matches perfectly with the fangs sold at Propstore. I’ve also examined two different Angel fang sets, and there are always subtle differences in how the teeth are aligned and shaped further highlighting how unique each set truly is. This lot originated from Todd McIntosh, the makeup artist on Buffy. Interestingly, about two years ago, he posted a video discussing these fangs and he actually showed Sarah’s pair, which are the same ones later consigned to Propstore. Todd also confirmed to me directly that these were worn by Sarah and that he personally sent them to Propstore along with various other Buffy props.
