Blood vials are small crystalline cubes, artifacts left from the First Civilization, each of which can contain genetic information from a single individual. When used with other First Civilization technology, blood vials allow for surreptitious real-time monitoring of those sampled, providing a powerful surveillance tool, and as such aggressively pursued by Templars such as Grand Master Laureano de Torres and subsequently by Templar-controlled Abstergo Industries.
