The Wizard of Oz, Wicked Witch of the West replica costume

This is a replica of the costume worn by Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz" (MGM, 1939).  I commissioned this replica costume, which was made for me by Mairi of Trapped in Time Designs.  The construction of the costume utilizes an mid-1890s Victorian bodice and bell skirt with train.  The dress also incorporates gothic elements such as vertical straps sewn over leg of mutton sleeves and a straight edged lace up corset with a tabbed peplum.  A cape with a large train drapes from the neck.  The final picture shows the dress displayed with a replica Witch's hat which I created using dimensions of the original melting scene hat.  I also created a fold over waist purse for the costume (not shown).
