Eureka, Warren Hughes Pareidolia Test Cards

original movie prop

That is filthy!  Do you show that to children?

In fifth season episode Jack Of All Trades, DOD auditor Warren Hughes returns to Global Dynamics, tasked with assessing whether the Astraeus crew are fit to resume their normal duties after being rescued from the Consortium's sinister 'virtual' Eureka.  As part of his evaluation, Hughes asks Fargo to interpret what he sees in a series of pareidolia cards.

Pareidolia is the psychological phenomenon of vague or random stimuli being perceived as something more significant, such as seeing the man in the moon or animals in clouds; it can be used to gain insight into a person's mental and emotional state. Unfortunately, in this case, the minds of Fargo and Carter are accidentally swapped while the test is underway, making for decidedly puzzling results.
