Troy, Trojan Arrow

Hundreds of these special effects arrows were used in the scene where Brad Pitts men were storming the beach of Troy. In the behind the scenes extras on the DVD, you can see the crew loading these specific arrows in air cannons and raining them down on the actors to appear they are getting showered in a hail of arrow-fire. This can be clearly seen as the arrows do not posses stirng notches to be fired from the bows.
Above shows the air compressors rigged to simulate hundreds of arrows released at the same time. This still is from the outtakes on the special features disc. My friend Bob Shelley spoke of doing this same technique when he was doing the special effects for The New World.
