Super Mario Bros., Thwomp Stomper Boot (Hero)

This is one of only two "hero" Thwomp Stomper boots produced for Super Mario Bros. and is made from metal, resin, and foam parts. Although there were multiple pairs of "semi-hero" boots produced that were also made from the same metal, fiberglass, resin, and foam components, the two "hero" boots were the only ones built with electronics incorporated to power up the light bar across the front of the foot. This boot was used throughout the entire film and was specifically used for all of the close up shots when the boots were lit or the hydraulics were actuated. The hydraulic pistons are still manually functional, allowing the boot to be raised about 6 inches up from the sole.

This is a very complex prop, weighing over 20 lbs. and was clearly not meant to be used for mobility, but rather, functionality. There is no doubt that this is probably the most iconic and recognizable prop built for Super Mario Bros. and is an incredible example of the ingenuity and creativity that went into the making of the film.
