The authentic/original prop sarcophagus of KING RUTENTUTEN (Rootin' Tootin'), used in the classic THE THREE STOOGES 1939 Columbia short, WE WANT OUR MUMMY (1939), where Moe, Larry, and Curly travel to Egypt in search of the mummy Rutentuten , who turned out to be a "midget" King. Of course, we also learn of his wife, Queen Hotsie Totsie...! This was of course a take off of the then recent discovery of 'boy King' Tutankamen (King Tut).- - - - - - - - - This identical vintage prop turned up 50 years later in the film WHITE PALACE (1991 Universal)(ABOVE RIGHT), starring Susan Sarandon, James Spader, Kathy Bates and Jason Alexander. In the film, this sarcophogus belonged to a kooky psychic-type character, played by Eileen Brennan, seen here strapped to the roof of her car! - - - - - Original Stooges props of this early vintage are incredibly rare; this famous prop survives as it was a Hollywood prop house rental property for several decades, and rediscovered in 2000.
