Galaxy Quest, Thermian Binoculars

Hero telescoping binoculars used by Jason Nesmith (Taggart) and Tommy Webber (Laredo) to observe the 'miners' on the unnamed alien planet.

Plastic body, machined aluminum lens holder, rubber viewer and nylon strap.

The lenses are operated by a switch on the underside of the prop, and were non-operational at the time of auction. One was easily restored to full functionality, but the second is damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced.

UPDATE: Thanks to the sharp eyes of RPF forum member Jon b26354, the found item used to create the telescoping lenses of this prop was discovered to be a Canon Elph 370Z APS point-and-shoot film camera. I obtained one, and was able to replace the failed zoom lens with a working one. Now the prop again functions as originally seen onscreen.
