Doctor Who, The 9th/10th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver
replica movie prop weapon
The 10th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver from Doctor Who made by The Wand Company. It's based on a 3D scan of David Tennant's own Sonic prop he was given after he left the show and he was kind enough to loan it to the Wand Company for this release. Now the Wand Companies specialty is TV remotes. So they took the Sonic Screwdriver and jammed in gesture based electronics that allow you to manipulate your TV, DVD, Satellite, and just about anything else that uses a remote just like the Doctor would do on the TV show. It's actually pretty cool.
Now the Sonic is about 95% screen accurate, with the only real difference from the prop being the lower end part is slightly thicker than the original to accommodate the USB connection.. The rest is almost dead on. It also has a rechargeable battery you can charge via USB by removing the black end-cap. In addition to the programmable TV remote gestures, it has a FX mode that includes 10 different sonic sound effects and built in TV B Gone, which allows it to cut off and on any remote controlled TV without programming. It's constructed out of aluminum and plastic and runs under $100.
