Hero replica of the tricorder seen in use in the third-fourth seasons of The Next Generation, only slightly altered as compared to the first-second season version. Although subsequent refinements in tricorder design would decrease the bulk, increase the light effects, and do away with the hand scanner entirely, the second generation Mk VI set the standard.

Vacuform shell body, with extensive light effects, backlit recessed display, scanning audio, and both opening and closing ratchet sound effects. Hand scanner has solid green and flashing red LEDs, and is activated automatically by removing it from its tricorder pocket. Both the tricorder and hand scanner have rechargable lithium ion batteries with recharge ports.
