This is my build-up of a full-scale replica of the Original Series Phaser-II Prototype as depicted by Franz Joseph in the Starfleet Technical Manual. This is a rare cast resin kit (maker unknown) that was designed to build a static / solid replica of the original design for the TOS P-II (note - this design was never used on the TV show). There wasn't much I could do to improve the solid P-I unit, however, I was able to use my Dremel and a steel cutting bit to carve out an electronics bay in the P-II body, including a space in the grip to install the dual triggers. I discarded the cast resin beam emitter that came with the kit and replaced it with an old machined aluminum unit. The Tech manual specs show one button on the grip is a "Safety" & the other is the trigger - on my replica one fires a 'stun' sound effect, the other a 'disrupt' sound. The phaser fires a bright blue 'phaser beam'.
