Star Wars A New Hope, Stormtrooper Blaster
Master Replicas movie prop
The classic white and black armor and static voices make Stormtroopers the most recognized characters in the saga; their trademark weapon is the BlactTec E-11 blaster rifle. The original prop was fashioned from a decomissioned WWII British Sterling submachine gun. The prop makers added a railing towards the stock to attach a WWII Sherman tank scope and placed plastic T-tracks in the barrel vents to give the weapon an more futuristic feel. The thirty-round magazine was replaced with a shorter three-round magazine to act as a the power supply. From this principle prop, several resin copies were made for the actors to use. Master Replicas was given access to the LucasFilm archives to study all the surviving pieces from the original 1977 flick. Their engineers chose to focus on the heavier principle prop for their replica. Through careful examination and study, the engineers were able to produce this very accurate, highly-coveted piece. Limited Edition 3359/3500.

McHale:
Check your research and what movie you're referencing. For episodes 4 and 5, Lucas and ILM referenced the British Sterling Mark 4 L2A3, whose earlier designs were tested during the final year of WWII. Their final prop was built onto a blank-firing version of that model.
For episode 6, however, they copied the Canadian variation that you're speaking of.
The replica made by Master Replicas was based on the episode 4 prop, not the episode 6 one.

Just for information, I see an error in your description, it is not a British WW1 submachine gun, but a Canadian Sterling MK2 dating from the early 1955, moreover all the replicas of the original saga were reproductions Japanese modified with resin or metal accessories.
Cordially
