Star Trek: First Contact, Starfleet Science/Medical Tricorder TR-590 Mark X

replica movie prop

This is simply the most advanced representation of the TR-590 Mark X Tricorder; it is the brain child of David Christian (USS Endeav) who sought to create a highly interactive tricorder for the best possible cosplay experience. A very cool prop that I am proud to have in my collection. It was built in early 2011.

The details:

- A diagnostic self-test and voltage calibration on startup.
- Full color LCD video main display & 36 video sequences
- 2 modes and 3 sub-modes; timed two-level automatic sleep mode, allowing the prop to be displayed open.
- 4 concealed switches (different functions depending on active/simulation modes)
- Able to increase and decrease LED sequence speeds
- Scanning light change depending on what scan is active: medical blue or science red.
- EMRG key activates a Red Alert (active mode) or an incoming Starfleet message from Major Kira Nerys regarding a Breen attack (simulation mode).
- LIBRARY button, attempting to access the Federation database, results in an interaction with the LCARS computer (active mode) or a random loop of scan sounds (simulation mode).
- Gyro sensor (activates special flatline medical sequence when certain motions are detected)
- Rechargable lithium ion battery with power protection circuitry.
- LCD Charger displaying charge status, a percentage indicator and an estimated completion time.
- Opening and closing ratchet sound.
- Vacuform tricorder body with HVLP paint and clearcoat.
- Rear pouch/slot for a removable hand scanner.
