Star Trek: Voyager, Starfleet SIMS Beacon
original movie prop
Successor to the palm beacons used in TNG and named after prop master Alan Sims, the wrist-mounted SIMS beacon allows away team members to brightly illuminate their environment while leaving their hands free for other tasks. This more compact version of the SIMS beacon was first seen in the episode Timeless, as the older Chakotay and Kim explore the frozen wreck of Voyager in 2390, 15 years after ST Voyager's timeline, hoping to alter the past. The twin beams powered by six 123A lithium batteries produce an intensely bright focused spot. This particular one is inscribed with the date 4-4-98 on the inside of the outer resin shell.
