Sphinx from King of Kings. (MGM, 1961) This sphinx was constructed of plaster over chicken wire sculptures, hand-painted and detailed to appear like ancient carved stone. They measure approx. 58 in. long x 34 in. tall x 20 in. wide.
Directed by Nicholas Ray, the film won a Golden Globe and starred Jeffrey Hunter, Siobhan McKenna, Rip Torn, and Hurd Hatfield. The film's narrator was Orson Welles.
