Escape From New York, Snake Plissken's Tracer Bracelet and Display Case
replica movie prop
My recreation of the Tracer Bracelet worn by Snake Plissken in the 1981 Movie "Escape from New York" In the movie, Plissken, is given a copper bracelt with a brass USPF Symbol on it. As Plissken examines the bracelet he pushes a spring push pin on the top which appears to release the spring loaded faceplate and reveals a red button that if pressed sends a radar signal to the USPF Command Center that will track him for 15 minutes. In my version the top pin does not press, but is twisted slightly counter clockwise to release the spring loaded faceplate. Also, since there is no point in the movie that the back or inside of the tracer can be seen, I took some creative liberties and created what I thought it could look like. I added the stamped USPF and LT. S. Plissken to personalize it, as if it had been assigned to Plissken. I have never found a tutorial on how someone can make this iconic prop so I made a DIY/Tutorial YouTube video that is a bit long, but shows how I created the Tracer. Also, I created a case in order to properly display this prop in a collection.
Thanks,
