In fourth season episode Abridging the Devil's Divide, Harper, Rhade, and eventually Dylan Hunt are captured by Templars intent on coercing Harper's assistance in building a time bridge to the future. The Templars control their prisoners in part by applying these sleep deprivation devices to their foreheads, rendering them weak and confused.
