Robin Hood, Sir Robin Loxley's Map Compass
original movie prop
Sir Robin Loxley's (Douglas Hodge) map compass used in the 2010 Ridley Scott action packed drama, Robin Hood. This small historical piece was used early in the film when King Richard the Lionheart (Danny Houston) is pondering his troop's loyalty and respect for him, while Robert is calculating distances for their future journey. The wooden tool has metal pins for accuracy, and an ornate circular hinge at the very top. It sits comfortably inside a bespoke brown leather pouch with thick thong stitching. The entire piece has been given a light intentional level of distress to ensure it looked 'well travelled', but remains in sound condition with a small crack to one arm where it joins the pin. Together they measure approximately 22cm (8.75") long.
The patterns on the wooden part as well as the metal part are identical to the patterns on this unique prop.
