The Company of Wolves is a Horror fantasy movie filmed in the UK in 1984, it was directed by Neil Jordan and starring Sarah Patterson, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Rea and David Warner. It was written by Angela Carter and Jordan.
The film is based on the werewolf story of the same name in Angela Carter's short story collection The Bloody Chamber. Carter herself co-wrote the screenplay.
The head was made by special effect artist Christopher Tucker for the transformation scene where the young groom (Stephen Rea) returns after years of absents after being taken by the wolf, he is angered to find her having had children with a new husband (Jim Carter) that he transforms into his werewolf form, but is slain when his wife's second husband returns. The husband picks up a spade and knocks the wolf's head off, the head falls into the cooking pot and when it emerges he has changed back to the groom and this is the Christopher Tucker Wax head.
The head is in great condition, the hair has rotted away over the years but wig pins can still be seen in the sides, the eyebrows are still in tact and are of human hair, the detail is just brilliant. Christpoher Tucker engnineered all of the transformation scene and his talent for attention to detail can be seen in this head.
