The TV prop was originally used as a signaling device / beacon invented by Mr. Spock.  It was re-used in later episodes, appearing as a generic 'engineering tool' and as a 'cutting torch'.  To represent these three separate uses of the prop, I equipped my (cast resin) replica with three lighting effects:  1. White light + a beeping sound effect represents the original beacon prop,    2. Flashing RGB light represents the 'engineering tool' use of the prop, and  3. Red lighting serves to represent the 'cutting torch' use of the prop.  The lighting effects are not accurate to the on-screen effects, but serve to deliniate the three major functions the prop was used for rather well.  The replica is full scale & made entirely of cast resin (including the emitter tip).
