Saw, SAW 1 hacksaw & recorder display
original movie prop
This is a hacksaw and tape recorder display used in the 2004 horror film Saw. This style saw and recorder can be seen throughout the bathroom sequences of the film as Adam (Leigh Whannell) and Lawrence (Cary Elwes) discover they must saw through their feet if they ever want to leave their shared room alive.
The saw is made of metal which has been painted brown and also has a black plastic handle featuring numerous rivets and finger grips. The blade has a wingnut which can be removed to change or rotate the blade. The saw has some production distressing but remains in good condition. The mini-cassette player/recorder is Panasonic brand (the label has been scratched off) and has some production distressing throughout.
The recorder no longer has batteries; the electronics have not been tested. Additionally included is a mini-cassette with a plain white label featuring a hand-written note that reads: “Play Me.” These pieces all come set in a custom display frame with movie stills, a small description, even a backing that resembles the film’s bathroom tile. This display measures approximately 22” x 21” (56cm x 53cm).
