This pair of hand sewn replica Ruby Slippers was created in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Hollywood premiere of "The Wizard of Oz" (MGM, 1939) on August 15, 1939.  These slippers were created using a technique similar to that employed by MGM to create the original screen worn pairs.  Thousands of translucent ruby red sequins were individually hand sewn onto overlays, which were then sewn onto a pair of vintage 1930s size 6 art deco satin pumps.  A pair of jeweled bows were created using  leather, vintage 4mm rhinestones, aged dark red bugle beads, and custom cut red glass jewels. A cloth Innes Shoe Co. tag, white leather lining, and orange felt on the bottom soles were also added.
