Star Trek: The Next Generation, Reginald Barclay Engineering Tool

original movie prop

This engineering tool had the dubious honor of being used by Lt Reginald 'Broccoli' Barclay to unseal and open the latch on a container of medical tissue samples, in the episode Hollow Pursuits. The cascading systems failures that the Enterprise was experienced were found to be due to contamination of the containers with invidium, which the engineering staff had inadvertently spread around the ship.

This hero device has sequencing red LEDs on top and a flashing white sensor port in front. Insofar as these features were not used in this scene, the prop was presumably repurposed for different tasks in other episodes.
