This is psychobilly rock guitarist Jim Heath's (aka The REVEREND HORTON HEAT) 1950 Ford custom, aka The Big Blue Car. Heath's daily driver and Dallas gig car for many years, it can be seen in his music video ONE TIME FOR ME. The Rev sings about this vehicle in several of his popular songs, including FIVE-O FORD (aka Fucked Up Ford), CRUISIN' FOR A BRUISIN', and of course, REVEREND HORTON HEAT'S BIG BLUE CAR. Jim's music career started in the famous old Deep Ellum music district of Dallas, Texas. I obtained the car from Jim several years ago- he is a great friend.
The car was featured in a year-long automobile show at LA's PETERSEN AUTO MUSEUM (one of the most prestigious auto museums in the world), in their show "ENCORE! CARS AND GUITARS OF ROCK 'N ROLL II" BACK IN 2006, along side cars and axes that were owned by other famous rockers such as Elton John, Elvis Presley, Snoop Dogg, Billy Gibbons, Chris Issac, and several others.
Big Blue was pictured in ROLLING STONE magazine in the 1990s, in an article about the popular band.
This car is also included in both the DVD and the booklet for the new RHH release "25 YEARS TO LIFE" (2012), a new live deluxe album/bio shot in San Francisco that showcases the songs and history of "the best underground band in America". A constantly touring band, they play over 200 shows a year, and have toured Europe and Australia several times.
