Ghostbusters, Portable 2-Way Radio
replica movie prop
A no-nonsense portable radio was an essential component of a Ghostbuster's equipment loadout, allowing team members to stay in contact when they became separated during missions. First seen in use during the ghost hunt at the Sedgewick Hotel, their standard issue radio was a Motorola MT500.
The MT500, while itself in production for only a few years, was a spinoff of the HT220, the most popular portable radio of the late 1960s to mid 80s. HT220s and MT500s were compact (for the time), found everywhere two way radios were used, and virtually indestructable with many still remaining functional today.
