Star Trek: Enterprise, Phase Pistol - ENT (Static)

This is a prop house made, static (no electronics, does not epen), Phase Pistol from Enterprise (supposedly from Season One). What is different about this item is that the slits in the cowl have a red plexi rather than the smoke-grey/black plexi. The story goes that this was requested to have the red since there were going to be later hero shots with the light-up power cell and the red would show through. During production, however, it was determined that the set lighting would regularly show through the red plexi - and the powers that be on the set did not want viewers to see inside the phase pistol in that fashion. This phase pistol was subsequently returned to the shop and the request was for the dark plexi to replace the red. Rather than modify this item a replacement was sent. The story also continues that some red-plexi phase pistol shots did, at some point, make it on screen. I have identified two episodes that appear to use the red-plexi phase pistol: 'Strange New World' from Season One (in the hands of Trip Tucker and aiming it at T'Pol); and 'Impulse' from Season three and in the hands of Captain Archer.
