In fifth season episode Mirror Mirror, swarms of 'smart dust', under development by GD as a possible solution to global warming, escape control and threaten to permanently incapacitate all of Eureka's electronic devices, and the town's human inhabitants as well.  Wireless networked particle sensors are placed in key locations, attempting to track the swarm's movements.
