Dowd (played by James Stewart) brings home and sets up in front of his mother’s portrait in the 1950 movie, “Harvey.” Harvey is a Pooka in the shape of a six foot three and a half inch rabbit that happens to be invisible. This painting puts Elwood’s sister (played by Josephine Hull) over the edge and convinces her all the more that Elwood needs to be committed to Dr. Chumley’s sanitarium.
