Star Trek: The Original Series, PHASER-I Vacu-Formed Vsn.1

This is a scratch-built model of a TOS Type-I Phaser.  I made it by vacu-forming an upper & lower body shell, plus an inner shell to add rigidity and to make joining the upper & lower body parts easier.  The 'side rails' are just silver plastic metalizer tape and the power read-out dome is vacu-formed clear acetate. The beam emitter is a piece of aluminum tubing. The phaser has working light (red LED) and sound (really bad).  I made a number of these back in late 1980s - early 1990s and sold a few at Trek Cons. Back then a working P-I was a rare item. I kept the last of them for my own collection (item in photos) and it's starting to show its age.

Overall the finished model is a bit too big, but for a 'fan-made' scratch-build it's not too bad.
