An original screenplay by John Sayles, adapted from the 1977 Gary Brandner novel of the same name. SIGNED by director Joe Dante on the title page and noted as "Revised / Final Draft" with the date of March 4, 1980.
TItle page and interior pages [numbered 1-125] are all white, measure 8.5" x 11" in size and are three-hole punched and bound with metal pins in green, heavy stock paper covers with title on the front.
SIGNED by director Joe Dante in fine-point pen on the title page, with no other handwritten marks or notes elsewhere on the script, other than a copy number which has been penciled in the upper right corner of the front cover.
Released by AVCO Embassy Pictures in 1980, "The Howling" was directed by Joe Dante and produced by Michael Finnell and Jack Conrad. It starred Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee, Dennis Dugan, Belinda Balaski, Christopher Stone, John Carradine, Dick Miller, Slim Pickins, Kevin McCarthy, and Elisabeth Brooks. This was the second of two films that John Sayles wrote for director Joe Dante, the first being "Piranha," released in 1978. Several book and film sequels followed this now-classic modern werewolf romp.
