The Last Days Of Pompeii, Original Matte Painting
original production material
this is an original handpainted matte painting (on glas) of the three part, seven hour tv adaption of edgar bulwer-lyton's 1834 bestseller the last days of pompeii (1984). that adaption was the most expensive version of all ever made: it had a 19.000.000 us dollar budget and a truly stunning cast.
i was told, that this matte painting was one of the first art works the matte artist painted for the movie industry. below the matte painting is a screen shot which shows how the matte painting appears originally on tv-screen.note that some people on the public-place in the middle of the architecture are painted.
