Here another lost grail prop finally found 🙂 !!! This is my original KNB Production made and painted Leatherface TCM 3 Stunt Mask!
No real stitching,. It was all sculpted in. These were made to be used for the hero masks but never used,. So they then kept them for stunt masks. There are (3) of these known to exist and each one is different. Which means they were made then another sculpt was cast with revisions. Jeff Burr and RA Mihailoff said they were changing the final mask design clear up to the time they were to shoot the first scene with Leatherface. The producers and Jeff couldn’t agree on the final look of the mask. I believe this is the 2nd revision,. As another one I’ve seen has stitching closer to the final mask.
Once production wrapped they were given to Fangoria magazine who then ran a giveaway when the film opened. This is the only one to still have the signatures legible and is the most well preserved. It is still very soft and not deteriorating at all,. It has been stored properly.
