In fifth season episode Gravity, Tuvok and Paris crash land on a planet trapped inside a 'subspace sinkhole', where the passage of time is greatly accelerated. They are at first preyed upon by and soon after befriend a female sole survivor of a previous crash (played by Tank Girl Lori Petty), who carries this unusual phaser.
