In sixth season episode Change of Heart, newlyweds Dax and Worf embark on a 20 km march through dense jungle, attempting to extract a Cardassian operative from a transport-protected Dominion base in the Badlands. Jadzia uses this PADD enroute to get new bearings to the rendezvous point. How this actually works is not specified; the planet Soukara might not offer an easy solution, like a system of GPS satellites or even magnetic poles.
